St Merryn Church sits right at the heart of both the agricultural and surfing communities. We have a more relaxed approach to worship which we feel authentically reflects the life of our parish. We have a heart for community events and hospitality. You can be sure that at St. Merryn Church, the refreshments after the service will be second to none!

Our rhythm of Sunday worship leans more towards the Word of God rather than Sacrament. That said, we do have a Holy Communion service once a month which is traditional but also relaxed, warm, and accessible to all.

We are blessed to have a dedicated and talented organist along with a wonderful Church Choir who enrich our worship. Music, community and fellowship, is at the heart of what we do and who we are.

We have a weekly Coffee Morning in the Church Hall every Tuesday from 10.00am-12 noon where you can buy pre-loved clothes, books, Bric-a-brac, childresn toys, locallly grown vegetables and prize winning cakes. We also have a raffle with lots of prizes to be won!

Other events include:

  • Shrove Tuesday pancakes in the Church Hall

  • Lent Lunches (Churches Together)

  • Easter Bonnet competition

  • Bi-annual Flower Show

  • Fun Dog Show (August)

  • Ceiligh Dance

  • Christmas Bazaar (with a visit from Father Christmas)

  • Johnny Cowling Christmas Concert

History

St Merryn church has served the parish for hundreds of years. First mentioned in 1259 as the first Vicar John de Withiel  was installed.  However, a church was in existence before this date.
