Thursday 10.30am Holy Communion

Starting on September 25th - 08.00pm Holy Communion

At St. Petroc’s, we aim to represent everyone within the Church of England by offering a variety of worship styles. Our main aim is to create spaces where all can encounter God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Our Holy Communion services are traditional but also relaxed, warm and accessible to all. St. Petroc’s has a rich sacramental heritage and one that we strive to maintain. We are also blessed to have a fantastic organist who enriches our worship along with an enthusiastic congregation of singers.

People sometimes feel unsure about stepping into a church service because they don’t know whether they should be standing or kneeling at certain points throughout the service. Don’t worry, you’ll be given a Service Book which explains everything. The most important thing for us is that you are there with us and encountering the presence of God, not whether you stand or sit at the right time!

Our Songs of Praise service has a more contemporary feel to it and is supported musically by our talented Worship Band. The Worship Team creates a warm and Spirit filled environment that some feel more connected to than our Holy Communion Services. That said, many people enjoy the range of services that we offer and come to them all! Both our Songs of Praise and Morning Worship are led by Lay Worship Leaders.

We are also blessed to have a wonderful and dedicated Children's Ministry Team. Our JAM Club (Jesus and Me) runs at the same time as our Holy Communion Services which allows parents to engage with worship knowing that their children are learning new things about faith and most importantly, in a safe environment. Alternatively, your children are more than welcome to remain in the service with you.

We look forward to welcoming you!

THE CHURCH IS OPEN DAILY DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS.

History

There have been three churches over fourteen centuries on this site.

The first church was built in 518 by Petroc, a missional saint. The church, monastery and all it contained were completely destroyed by the Vikings in 981.

A second church was built around 1100 (Saxon with Norman additions). This was then replaced by the current church in 1425.

The church has been at the heart of Padstow for centuries.
